Simon says:

After several years of planning and many hours of labor, the latest pair of SuperDARN mid-latitude radars are now operational. Many of you braved the Central Oregon Wilderness, suffered heat stroke and/or frostbite in order to make the new radars possible. Thank you, everyone, for the sacrifices you made to see this project to completion.

The first transmission occurred at exactly at 5:00 PST yesterday, Thanksgiving Day in the US, from the Eastern-looking array. Shortly thereafter we had operation of both radars. I have attached a screen shot from this morning. Both radars look quite healthy but we will be transmitting at lower power until another trip can be made.

Well done Simon - and the rest of the crew!
