The Board of Visitors of Virginia Tech announced on June 3 that Dr. Xueling Shi has been promoted to Research Assistant Professor, effective July 1, 2025. Xueling is an expert on ULF pulsations in the magnetosphere-ionosphere system and is leading a GEM focus group on geomagnetically induced currents (GICs). She is preparaing to take up a faculty position in the fall.
